Key objectives of scheme: |
The focus of the programme is to increase community learning and young people's knowledge and understanding of the impact, diversity and contemporary significance of conflict.People living in St Helens at the time of World War 2 were invited into 2 schools to share their experiences with children. Dan Hayward from Burtonwood Airbase along with the adults, educated the children about weapons, gas masks, air raids, Americans and toys. The sessions were filmed and made into a learning resource DVD for the St Helens Fronter educational website. The DVD and lesson plans are accessed by all schools throughout St Helens.
