The concept behind the Northern Silver Screen is to use film as a succinct & engaging media for sharing information within the Consortium's membership. We have now hosted our successful Northern Silver Screen initiative twice.
Northern Silver Screen I
The first initiative was designed to demonstrate current examples of excellent housing and community initiatives. The films which were first showcased at the Northern Housing Summit 2008, were brought together under the Consortium's four work themes to cover a wide variety of topics ranging from a scheme for young mothers to a green travel policy.
Northern Silver Screen II
Following the success of Northern Silver Screen I, the Consortium decided to run the initiative again, however this year we focused the range of short films upon age friendly communities and age inclusive communities in support of our eagerly awaited project 'Age Friendly Communities in the North: People and Place 2020'.
In order to compile the films we invited Members to submit proposals surrounding; intergenerational initiatives, innovative approaches to tackling the ageing challenge and building strong links with health and social care. We then selected the winners and assisted with the filming, funding and/or editing of the submissions.
The winners of Northern Silver Screen II were shown at the Age Friendly Communities in the North: People and Place 2020 event, 26th January, York Racecourse.
