Chair's Charities
Each year, our regional representatives select a charity for their respective areas. Northern Housing Consortium then supports these charities throughout the year with the proceeds from our Corporate Events programme.
North East
Grace House have been chosen once again as the North East Chair's Charity

"We are raising money to build a children's hospice for children and their families who live in the North East. These are very sick and dying children whose families face tremendous pressures. These children, and there are a thousand of them, are not expected to live to reach adulthood.
We are only 12 children's hospice beds to serve the North East area (from as far north as the Scottish border to as far south as
Middlesbrough. At current estimates that equates to 1 bed per 100 children in need. Grace House will be the first children only dedicated hospice in the whole of the North East. That means it will not be adjacent to an adult hospice. We will also continue to provide respite and support beyond the age of eighteen as some children, due to medical research, now survive into their early twenties.
We rely heavily on public donations as no government funding is available to children's hospices towards the building costs. We will need to raise £1.5 million every year to run our children's hospice. As at November 2008 the appeal has raised £1.7 million.
Please pass on our thanks to all your members for their continued support - they really are helping to make the dream of building a children's hospice in
Sunderland become reality."
