Housing in the North - What does the future look like?
2010 - A new Coalition Government, continuing economic uncertainty, massive public sector cutbacks, the potential to end lifetime tenancies, moving to a low carbon economy and a Comprehensive Spending Review to name just a few of the challenges housing organisations and local authorities in the North are facing.
The rules of the game have changed, there are no rules as we know them, it's time for 'Big Society' and 'Localism' to step in, box ticking, inspection - gone, doing it for yourselves and communities is in.
But what does this mean for those working in the sector, what does it in mean for communities, for regeneration, for new build, for our cross sector work in health and social care, for the environment.
This year's Northern Housing Summit will provide one of the first opportunities, post the Comprehensive Spending Review, to take a look at the real detail of the Coalition Government's policies for housing.
