Inspecting for Excellence 2010, 7th Annual Conference, Tuesday 20th April 2010, York Racecourse

Registration 10.00 am, Start 10.30am, Finish 4.00pm.

Changes in the regulatory and inspecting landscape have been firmly established. The Audit Commission will continue rolling out short notice inspections and Comprehensive Area Assessment and the Tenant Services Authority will be regulating against the housing standards and developing cross-sector regulation. 2010 will also need a review of the inspection methodology and we will see the practical implementation of these changes and the real impact that they will have on the way the sector delivers services.

Our annual Inspecting for Excellence conference, run in conjunction with the Audit Commission and the Tenant Services Authority, is now in its 7th year and has become established as the place to be to learn all about these developments and to hear from the key players about how the arrangements between the two organisations will work in practice.

Issues to be covered include:

  • Regulating with housing standards – how will this work in practice?
  • Standards and KLOEs – what will the links be?
  • Local standards – how are they developing and what is the latest news from the pilots?
  • Short notice inspections – the latest developments
  • Developing relationship TSA and Audit Commission
  • Changing demands of inspection – how should your organisation get prepared?
  • Comprehensive Area Assessment – what are the lessons from the first round?

Delegates will also have the opportunity to choose from a range of professional practice sessions including:

  • TSA standards and inspection – where’s the link?
  • Value For Money – practical solutions for embedding a VFM policy
  • Learning from short notice inspections
  • Comprehensive Area Assessment – a progress report
  • Comprehensive Area Assessment – the contribution from landlords

Who should attend?
Anyone from across the sector interested in improving their organisation’s performance and understanding the new regimes will benefit from attending this event. A consistent approach is fundamental in assessing services across RSLs, ALMOs and Local Authorities. In particular Chief Executives, Directors of Housing, Executive Chairs and Board Members, Policy Managers, Service Review Managers and Performance Managers will benefit from the opportunity to hear how regulatory and inspection changes are likely to apply in practice and how they can best structure services to meet the new challenges.
