Healthy meals and play based family learning activities are being offered to 28 families in Brinnington this summer as part of a series of eight-day programmes aimed at boosting families’ well-being.
Stockport Homes is working with the Brinnington Children’s Centre, Stockport Council’s Community Safety Team and Life Leisure to run its Holiday Kitchen programme.
The Holiday Kitchen programme aims to reduce the strain faced by families during the summer school holidays by offering free and affordable meals and activities that increase families’ access to positive holiday activities, good holiday nutrition, while supporting peer and family relationships and educational opportunities.
Roger Philips, Chair of the Board at Stockport Homes said:
“Long summer holidays are a challenging and expensive time for families from all backgrounds and can be particularly stressful for families on low incomes who are reliant on free school meals and live in neighbourhoods with few leisure facilities.”
Stockport Homes is running the Holiday Kitchen programme at Brinnington Young Persons centre until 27 August 2015, offering dynamic fun programmes of holiday learning, food and play for families who need it most.
