PQQ and access codes for our upcoming Asbestos framework are now available

As we have already announced to our members and supply chain, the Consortium Procurement team have started to work on the development of a new framework for Asbestos Management Services and our aim is to have it in place and available to our members just in time to replace the existing one in March 2016.

This new framework has been developed into three separate lots in order to recognise the importance of social values and of encouraging small and medium enterprises (SME’s) to be involved in the tendering process:

Lot 1: Management of Asbestos Services

  • Sampling
  • Air Monitoring
  • Consultancy

Lot 2: Removal and Remedial Work

  • Non Licensed and Licensed Removal and Disposal

  • Consultancy

Lot 3: Training Services

National Home Security Month 2015

We can help you keep your customers’ homes safe and secure

We are aware that National Home Security Month takes place in October and would like to remind you how important home security is for all of us.

With the pressures of day-to-day life, home security is often overlooked and it’s important to make it a key priority at all times.

We can help our Members deliver high quality home security and protection opportunities for their tenants through our Property Safety and Security and Tenants’ Contents Insurance (SIMPLE) frameworks.

We recognise that social housing tenants may face difficulties in accessing competitive insurance products. Often they choose not to insure their contents due to the cover being too expensive, or they are unable to spread the cost of repayments. Our Tenants’ Contents Insurance (SIMPLE) framework helps by providing residents with a fair, affordable and non discriminatory insurance scheme for their home contents. This service is free to Members and the policy administration and premium collection can be outsourced, offering you a truly flexible service.

Our TCI (SIMPLE) framework is currently being used by 74 of our Members who between them have 50,927 tenants on cover.

It is equally important that the safety and security of our Members’ properties is managed by having the latest equipment installed and effective maintenance contracts in place. Our Property Safety and Security framework provides Members with the products and services they need to make sure customers are safe in the places they live and work, as well as ensuring they are compliant with legislation, in particular fire safety regulations.

To find out more about these frameworks email us at solutions@consortiumprocurement.org.uk or call 0191 566 1000.

Pay to Stay Consultation Launched

The Department for Communities and Local Government have launched their consultation on the pay to stay measure. The consultation asks for views on two aspects of the ‘pay to stay’ policy. These are:

  • views on a system of ‘tapers’ that would tie rent levels more closely to income and,
  • views on the potential administration costs.

The NHC will be collecting and submitting views from our members as part of this consultation. You can find the full terms of reference for the consultation here. If you would like to contribute, please email callum.smith@northern-consortium.org.uk by Monday 16 November 2015.
