Housing Bills

Housing and Planning Bill 2015

The Housing and Planning Bill 2015 is currently making its way through Parliament. The impact of this Bill on social landlords will be profound and it will fundamentally change the focus of the Department for Communities and Local Government from its focus on social housing to a new focus on providing affordable housing.

Other measures in the Bill include provisions around high income social tenants (HISTs), requirements for councils to sell off high value council housing, Starter Homes; new checks, measures and penalties for rogue landlords as well as the extension of Right to Buy to social housing tenants.

Below you can read the NHC’s briefings, prepared by our policy team, on the various stages of the Housing and Planning Bill 2015.
