Neighbourhood and community engagement: what could we achieve?
Come to be inspired: leave to be inspiring
It’s a bold ambition, but our annual resident involvement conference is one of our most anticipated events. At the Northern Housing Consortium we love our time in Blackpool listening to members and their customers sharing how resident involvement is really having an impact on communities and on the housing organisations working in these communities. This year, as ever, we want everyone attending the conference to leave knowing they’ve learned something new and that they are inspired by the people they meet.
As the dust settles on the general election and we await the programme of the new government, we hope that they will commit to actively supporting resident involvement in the housing sector. At Resident Involvement in Blackpool we have an exciting opportunity to explore how customer involvement could look for the lifetime of this parliament and beyond.
We’re really excited to have Sunday Assembly joining us in Blackpool. They are an international movement which aims to support communities through their motto of “Live Better, Help Often, Wonder More”. They are really keen to engage with housing providers as they see a natural fit with tenant participation.
Continuing the theme of bringing people together and changing through social action we’re also really pleased that UpRising Manchester will be with us in Blackpool sharing their work to support young people to reach their potential and shape the future.
Our speakers include:
- Julia Wallace and Brian Quinn, CABE
- Victoria Turnbull, UpRising Manchester
- Steph Harrison, Regenda
- Vicky Bannister, Wigan and Leigh Homes
- Yvonne Davies, Scrutiny and Empowerment Partners Ltd
- Sunday Assembly
More speakers TBC.
