What is the scholarship?

The Northern Housing Consortium, Mediaworks and Digital Knowledge Labs have partnered to create a fully funded scholarship scheme for tenants of social housing to enrol in a Masters course starting July 2023.

All scholarships are backed directly by Mediaworks and Digital Knowledge Labs, amounting in a full scholarship contribution worth £9,000 to the successful tenant.

The fully online Digital Marketing and Data Analytics Master’s will initially provide one tenant with the tools and insights they need for a successful career in today’s data-driven, digitally focused marketing industry.

With this online course, 95% of students are promoted or land their first digital marketing role before graduating. And as a certified Google Premier Partner, Mediaworks is ideally placed to offer real business insights and innovative thinking alongside York St John’s high-quality teachings.

What are the entry requirements?

The applicant must be a current tenant within the Northern Housing Consortium’s listed Housing Association members.

Flexible requirements are available; however, the applicant will ideally meet the university’s general entry criteria to apply for the scholarship.

They will ideally have:

  • Current or recent work experience (within the last two years) with transferable skills appropriate to enable them to contribute to the programme;
  • and/or a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, achieved at Class 2:2 or above, from an approved university or institution.

What is the course structure?

The course duration is 18 months and is a fully online programme that will give the learner a unique insight into today’s digitally focused business world by blending academic theory with real-world innovation and insights.

This programme brings together contemporary academic theory and research with practical understanding of activities within organisations. Much of the learning is developed through collaborative online learning communities of programme participants and tutors. Solutions to real problems are suggested, discussed, and analysed within the learning community with the support of tutors and fellow professionals.

They’ll have tailored support throughout this online course, ranging from forums and collaborative online communities to tutor support, to help them succeed.

What are the application timelines?

To apply for the scholarship, tenants must submit their information and interest via https://digital.yorksj.ac.uk/masters-application-northern-housing-consortium-scholarship/ by 28th February 2023.

Northern Housing Consortium, Digital Knowledge Lab and Mediaworks representatives will then begin shortlisting relevant applicants and notifying for virtual interviews by 31st March 2023.

The successful applicant will then be notified in April 2023. They will then be enrolled onto the July 2023 master’s course.

  2. Enter relevant basic information until step 3
  3. In step 3, enter current education status, profession and referral code in the box and hit submit.

How can you promote to your tenants?

Each of our members has a folder of assets to allow you to promote both the fully funded scholarship to tenants and bursary to staff members across external and internal communication channels, and we have sent these to marketing contacts.
