The Northern Housing Consortium will be hosting the first meeting of the Northern Regeneration Forum on Monday 13th March, 2-4pm, at the Shay Stadium, Halifax.
The purpose of the forum is to act as a channel for best practice in regeneration across the North and the group is being formed out of a recommendation from the NHC’s Commission for Housing in the North to talk up the role of regeneration as part of housing policy. In that vein, we will be hearing from Jon Mallen Beadle, Managing Director of the Gateshead Housing Company about their innovative work regenerating the Kibblesworth community in Gateshead.
More generally, the first meeting will focus on setting parameters for the group by bringing subject specialists from across the NHC’s members together to identify key issues in the regeneration sector. These could include how to keep regeneration on the table as the Government move toward a supply focused housing policy and bringing best practice and subject specialists – such as the HCA – to the group to present on plans and answer questions. Any suggestions for meeting content will be gratefully received.
