HACT, in collaboration with Trowers & Hamlins LLP and echelon Consultancy Ltd, launched ‘Social Value and Procurement: A toolkit for housing providers and contractors’ at CIH.

The toolkit is the product of a working group formed including housing providers Affinity Sutton, North Hertfordshire Homes, Riverside, Thrive and Wandle, contractors AkzoNobel, Mulalley, United Living and Wates, along with the Northern Housing Consortium/Consortium Procurement. These organisations worked together from autumn 2015 through this summer to think through the challenges associated with integrating social value into the procurement process.

The result is a user-friendly, navigable toolkit that is designed to be used not only by procurement professionals, but by Community Investment staff, bid writers, and those charged with social value generation across businesses. The guiding principles of clarity, proportionality, transparency and consistency are transferable to any contract where the Social Value Act applies.

In this workshop, HACT personnel directly involved in convening the working group and authoring the toolkit will be on hand to talk through the main sections of the toolkit.* Free copies will be available for all attendees.

*Please note, this is an introductory session. If you would like an introduction to the social value methodology/measurement mechanisms used in the toolkit, or have specific questions about the use of the toolkit, HACT has several other forums available. (Please see http://www.hact.org.uk/procurement-toolkit to download the toolkit or to learn more about other opportunities for learning and engagement.)
